Description
1892-CC Double Eagle, MS62
Winter 1-A, The Only Dies
1892-CC $20 MS62 PCGS. Winter 1-A. There is just one die
pair identified for the 1892-CC double eagles that Douglas Winter
designates as his variety 1-A. Production was halted after the
coinage of 27,265 examples and high grade survivors are elusive.
This late die state example shows die cracks at the rips of the
rays below ATES in STATES. Scattered marks on the lustrous
rose-gold surfaces of this example are consistent with the grade
that PCGS determined. The MS62 grade is an excellent compromise
between quality and value for the advanced collector. Population:
73 in 62 (5 in 62+), 6 finer (2/25).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26C6, PCGS# 9020, Greysheet# 9951)
Weight: 33.44 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
