1843-O $10 MS60 NGC. Winter-2....
Description
1843-O Ten Dollar, MS60
Rare Mint State Example
1843-O $10 MS60 NGC. Winter-2. A bisecting die crack runs
from the eagle's left (facing) wingtip to the final A in AMERICA,
to the dentils beyond. The New Orleans Mint struck more than
175,000 gold eagles in 1843, although these coins were widely used
in circulation and none saved for numismatic purposes initially.
Mint State pieces are rare and survive primarily by chance. This
coin is a pleasing entry-level Mint State piece. Orange-gold patina
complements the sharp design elements and satiny luster, while
scattered abrasions determine the grade. An excellent high-end
example of this early New Orleans issue. Census: 7 in 60, 7 finer
(8/25).(Registry values: N4719)From The Brittany Legacy Collection, Part I.
