Description
1821 25C B-4, R.3, AU55 PCGS Secure. Tompkins Die State 1/2, no clash marks but cracked through the E in UNITED. No die lines are present between stars 2 and 3, which implies that they first appear between obverse die states 1 and 2, and reverse die states 2 and 3. This Choice AU example displays myriad pockets of luster about the stars, legends, curls, shield, and plumage. Golden-brown toning adorns the right obverse and the reverse periphery. The left side stars are soft, but the remainder of the strike is crisp. No marks are consequential.Purchased from Duncan Lee, 7/2008, for $3,450; Denis W. Loring Capped Bust Quarter Collection; to the present consignor.
