Description
1902 Barber Quarter, PR68
Distinctive Toning Scheme
1902 25C PR68 NGC. Tinges of deep orange-gold and olive
toning accent pale powder-blue patina on the obverse of this
Premium Gem proof, while the reverse exhibits more fluid shades of
violet, olive-gold, and bright orange. The design elements are
fully defined throughout.Cameo examples of the 1902 proof are seldom seen, leaving the budget-conscious collector with a small number of high-end non-Cameos from which to choose. This imbalance in the number of Cameo representatives known is a result of a change in the die preparation for proofs, which eliminated much of the field-motif contrast seen on earlier issues.
