Description

Pedro I gold 6400 Reis 1828-B MS62 NGC, Bahia mint, KM370.2, LMB-608. Bust in naval uniform. Despite the recent surge in popularity of Brazilian numismatics, this is a type that we seldom see. In fact, the last time that we handled this type and date was in 2020, when we brought an AU58 specimen to market. In conjunction with its rarity, this example carries eye appeal that should make it a contender for one of the most elite coins in any collector's South American cabinet. The only Mint State example at NGC, with surfaces that are warmed gently by an amber glow and that seem to nearly drip with luster on the reverse, making this coin a fascinating object of adoration.
