Description

1795 B-1, BB-21 Dollar, Sharp AU58
Popular Two Leaves Variety, 7 over 1 in Date

1795 $1 Flowing Hair, Two Leaves, B-1, BB-21, R.2, AU58 NGC. Bowers Die State I (perfect dies). Only a bit of high-point circulation wear keeps this attractive B-1, BB-21 early dollar from a full Mint State grade. Attractive brownish-gray toning is an amalgam of iridescent hues that spring forth when viewed under a direct light source. This early dollar is well-struck and ideally centered on a smooth planchet, showing no significant marks from circulation. A few short, non-invasive marks near the first T in STATES and above E and D of UNITED may be file marks incompletely struck out but they present little distraction from the overall quality of this richly toned and well-produced Two Leaves Flowing Hair example. Traces of luster remain on both sides. Partial evidence of an underdigit 1 remains beneath the 7 in the date. Census: 2 in 58, 6 finer (3/25).
