Description

1889-CC Morgan Dollar
MS62 Prooflike
Subtle Field-Device Contrast

1889-CC $1 MS62 Prooflike PCGS. VAM-3. Ex: Desert Find. At certain angles, this brilliant example yields a subtle cameo effect, though the fields would shine in their mirroring even without the contrast of the frosty central devices. Bold definition spans the motifs, and only the lightest of abrasions limit the numeric grade, mostly clustered in the left obverse field and on the portrait, where they blend in discretely on the latter. A coin yet to be reviewed by CAC, and certainly suitable for submission.

The VAM-3 dies are in an early state on this piece, yielding not only a lack of apparent die cracks but also ample early-state mirroring in the fields. All die markers are readily apparent with a loupe. Population: 41 in 62 Prooflike, 51 finer (7/25).(Registry values: P9, N4719)
