Description

1889-CC Morgan Dollar
MS62 Prooflike
Beautifully Reflective

1889-CC $1 MS62 Prooflike PCGS. VAM-2. Ex: Desert Find. A few freckles of amber toning appear on the obverse obverse, but the coin overall presents as brilliant. A sharp strike and frosty luster characterize the devices, and the eagle just glistens in-hand. In contrast, the fields are deeply reflective while still yielding a strong cartwheel effect. Scattered light abrasions are as expected for the grade but less obtrusive than usual, even as this coin has not yet been reviewed by CAC.

The VAM-2 dies are in their early state here, unclashed and devoid of the crack that later runs through the date. VAM-2 and VAM-3 account for a significant number of the most reflective pieces in the Desert Find discovery. Population: 41 in 62 Prooflike, 51 finer (7/25).(Registry values: P9, N4719)
