Description

1909 Indian Eagle, MS65
Seldom Seen This Fine

1909 $10 MS65 NGC. Mint State examples of the 1909 Indian eagle are relatively abundant in the MS61 to MS63 grade range, but they are elusive in MS64, and finer examples are rare. The current examples is the first MS65 coin that we have handled in three years, and only the 17th appearance of a Gem example in our auctions since 1993. (Finer examples are even rarer, with just two such coins appearing in our auctions in the last decade.)

This piece displays a bold strike and radiant sun-gold cartwheel luster. A loupe finds a few faint surface grazes, but no singular abrasions are noted, and overall eye appeal meets expectations for the lofty grade. Census: 26 in 65 (1 in 65+), 7 finer (5/23).(Registry values: N4719)
