Description

1907 High Relief Twenty, MS65
The Scarce Flat Rim Variant

1907 $20 High Relief, Flat Rim, MS65 PCGS. A Gem High Relief Saint-Gaudens double eagle is a crowning achievement for many collectors regardless of specialty or main collecting interest. The 1907 High Relief twenties were well-saved at the time of issue, resulting in a significant portion of the 12,367-coin mintage being preserved in some form or another for collectors. Surviving coins reside largely in Mint State, and they can be had in just about any grade desired, budget permitting. The Flat Rim variant of the High Relief double eagle is scarcer overall than its Wire Rim counterpart. This is an outstanding example of the Flat Rim type, and it is also exceptionally attractive for the grade. Neither side exhibits any notable abrasions or other blemishes and luminous rich-gold luster is unbroken throughout the obverse and the reverse. A full strike from multiple impressions by the Mint's hydraulic press is on display, as is delightful satiny luster from the finely grained surfaces that convey outstanding eye appeal.(Registry values: N7079)
