1920-S Indian Ten, AU Details
Rare Mass-Melted Issue

1920-S $10 -- Altered Surfaces -- PCGS Genuine. AU Details. Although struck a baker's dozen years prior to Roosevelt's 1933 gold recall, most examples of the 1920-S eagle remained in Treasury vaults at this time of the Great Depression edict. Today, despite a mintage of 126,500 pieces, the '20-S is rare in all grades. A majority of the 120 to 150 survivors are in circulated grades. This peach-gold representative displays light wear on the curls, headdress, and plumage. The surfaces are slightly glossy, and a thin mark is noted above the eagle's tail.

Note for clients in the European Union: This lot is considered by the European Union to be “investment gold”. We believe that it meets the criteria established in Article 344(1), point (2) of Council Directive 2006/112/EC and thus should be exempt from import VAT regardless of the selling price. Any questions or concerns about VAT should be addressed to your accountant or local tax authority.
