Large Date, Sheldon-288
1812 1C Large Date, S-288, B-3, R.2, AU55 PCGS. Deep brown
overall, but faded orange-gold persists in protected regions. Well
struck except for the left-side stars. The obverse has a few minor
abrasions, while the reverse is remarkably devoid of marks. Our EAC
grade XF45. Population: 7 in 55, 18 finer (7/19).Ex: Central States Signature (Heritage, 4/2002), lot 5026, which realized $1,840; Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 2/2009), lot 193, which realized $2,990; New York Signature (Heritage, 10/2016), lot 3626, which realized $2,937.50.
