Republic Yuan Shih-kai "Plumed Hat" Dollar ND (1916) UNC Details (Altered Surface) PCGS, Tientsin mint, KM-Y332, L&M-942, Kann-663, WS-0097. Struck to celebrate Hung-hsien's ascension to dynastic rule that would ultimately be short-lived. Among the two "Plumed Hat" varieties, those featuring the renowned "Flying Dragon" reverse design are notably more elusive to find at any level of preservation. Seeing some intervention over time, most evident in the polychromatic surface tone, but maintaining all the compositional details that make this such a sought-after vintage type.
