Description

Desirable Plain Edge "Pavilion" Dollar

Republic Hsu Shih-chang Specimen "Pavilion" Medallic Dollar Year 10 (1921) AU Details (Spot Removed) PCGS, Tientsin mint, L&M-957, Kann-676a, WS-0103. Plain edge, without lower legend on reverse variety. A highly elusive variety of an already challenging series, this coin has notably grown in desirability in recent years and consistently generates excitement whenever it surfaces. While admitting subtle signs of past handling and spot removal, the selection at hand remains thoroughly appealing due to its intricately detailed rendering of the Peking Union Medical College "pavilion" on the reverse. The surfaces display slate-gray hues throughout, further accented by deeper olive peripheral toning. Distinguished by its plain edge and the absence of legends in the reverse's lower register, this scarcer variant has appeared just a handful of times over the past two decades, and this particular example undoubtedly deserves considerable attention as it approaches the auction block.

AU Details (Spot Removed) PCGS。
