Impeccable Gem Presentation 40 Francs

Leopold I gold Proof 40 Francs 1835 PR65 Ultra Cameo NGC, Brussels mint, KM-B23.1, Fr-403, Delm-1257 (R3). Position B. Lettered edge. By Joseph-Pierre Braemt. A great rarity from the Belgian series, intended as a regular circulation issue in coinage law while in reality, was issued in limited quantities for presentation purposes. These Proofs are incredibly scarce and the example on offer is likely one of if not the finest piece available to the public. Out of the four total graded across NGC and PCGS, this is the finest numerical grade, not to mention the elite Ultra Cameo designation. A rich harvest tone covers the flan, dramatizing the impact of the broad mirrors and the impeccable articulation of Leopold's bust and the reverse wreath. Some stray marks and a touch of disturbance to the raised frost are expected on what is otherwise an impeccable coin. Certainly a type that will not return to market in this quality soon.
