Description
1893-S Eagle, MS63+
CAC-Approved
1893-S $10 MS63+ PCGS. CAC. This is a common issue in grades
through MS63, but it is rare in MS64, and very rare finer. The
three highest-graded examples at PCGS are an MS65, an MS66, and an
MS67 (ex: Clapp/Eliasberg). The middle coin sold for a record
$43,125 in the FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2007), lot 3655.This is the only MS63+ example of this date certified at PCGS, and given the relative unavailability (and high cost) of finer coins, this seems like a sensible piece for the condition-oriented Liberty Head eagle collector to add to a set. Both sides of this attractive Select Mint State example have satiny yellow luster with wisps of green color, especially near the borders. A small copper spot is noted between the eagle's beak and ribbon.
Ex: FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2012), lot 6572, where it realized $3,450.
