Description
1908-S Indian Cent, MS66 Red
Inaugural Branch Mint Coinage
1908-S 1C MS66 Red PCGS. The 1908-S Indian cent is the first
minor coin issue struck by a mint facility other than Philadelphia,
excluding the 1851-O three cent silver piece which has a 75% silver
alloy. The San Francisco Mint produced slightly more than 1.1
million Indian cents in 1908, marking the lowest mintage in the
series since 1877. This Premium Gem Red example displays frosty
golden luster and no abrasions. Trivial strike softness is only
apparent on the uppermost headdress feather and the wreath bow.
