Description

1869 Liberty Double Eagle, AU58
Challenging Issue Any Finer

1869 $20 AU58 NGC. Although the Philadelphia Mint produced more than 175,000 double eagles in 1869, this issue is genuinely elusive in the context of the series. Uncirculated examples are rarities in any grade, and high-end AU coins are only slightly more available. This impressive near-Mint example displays original yellow-gold surfaces and bold design elements, with the expected number of scattered abrasions for the grade. Census: 91 in 58, 18 finer (10/25).(Registry values: N1793)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26A5, PCGS# 8955, Greysheet# 9806)

Weight: 33.44 grams

Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
