1916 Nickel, CAC-Approved PR65
Only 600 Matte Proofs Struck
1916 5C PR65 NGC. CAC. The 1916 is the scarcest of the matte
proof Buffalo nickels, boasting a mintage of only 600 pieces. It
also marks the end of matte proof production for this series. Proof
coinage of Buffalo nickels did not resume until 1936, and then it
debuted with Satin and Brilliant finishes, not the original matte
texture. This CAC-approved Gem is needle-sharp and toned light
golden. Eye appeal is outstanding. CAC: 16 in 65, 49 finer
