Description

1904 $20 MS63 Prooflike PCGS. The Mint produced over 6.2 million double eagles in 1904, the highest of the entire series. Prooflike double eagles from the 1904 issue are quite elusive, as PCGS shows just 256 Prooflike pieces and only two Deep Mirror Prooflike examples. This Select Uncirculated Prooflike example is from this elusive group, with PCGS reporting only 19 finer in Prooflike (10/25). Fully struck and razor-sharp, the wheat-gold surfaces feature mirror-like fields and satiny devices. Marks are as expected for the grade, with chatter in front of Liberty's face and a small mark under her eye, although most are diminished within the exceptional, flashy contrast.
