Description
August Bechtler K-24 Gold Dollar, AU58
27G., 21C., High Quality Example
(1842-52) A. Bechtler Dollar, 27G. 21C., Plain Edge, AU58 PCGS.
CAC. K-24, R.3. Augustus Bechtler assumed control of the
Bechtler private mint in 1840, relocating the coining operations to
midtown Rutherfordton, North Carolina after his father's death in
1842. The 27G, 21C gold dollars are known with both a Reeded Edge
(very rare) and a Plain Edge. This Plain Edge example displays
borderline Mint State sharpness with smooth fields, an evenly bold
strike, and absolutely no distractions. Pleasing olive-gold
surfaces show subtle khaki-gold accents. Listed on page 390 of the
2026 Guide Book. PCGS Population: 58 in 58 (1 in 58+), 41
finer. CAC: 22 in 58, 24 finer (10/25).Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2B99, PCGS# 10040, Greysheet# 11689)
