High-Quality 1821 N-2 Cent
1821 1C MS61 Brown NGC. AU55 EAC. N-2, Early Die State, R.1. An early die state, characterized by a die line from the bust tip to the border, between the digit 1 and star 1. A lovely cent with hard, glossy surfaces and strong design features, although it is not fully struck. The fields are lightly reflective, possibly struck soon after production of proof examples. The obverse has mottled olive, steel, and chocolate-brown with some splashes of lighter tan. The reverse is similar with splashes of lighter reddish-tan, faded from original mint red color. Large cents of this date are quite difficult to locate in the higher grades, and those in or near Mint State are highly elusive and in great demand.Ex: Oscar Pearl; Harold Bareford; R.E.
