Description

Early Die State 1824 N-4 Cent

1824 1C AU55 NGC. XF40 EAC. N-4, Early Die State, R.2. If you have been seeking an attractive, higher-grade example of this variety, or of the 1824 date in general, the present sale offers several such coins, including three different examples of this N-4 die marriage. This is an early die state with an obverse inner circle nearly complete from 5 o'clock clockwise to 12:30. Obverse die cracks are just visible and not particularly advanced. Both sides have complete border dentils. This is a pleasing example with subdued grayish-brown color and darker chocolate-brown toning on the highpoints. Hints of faded luster remain visible.
