Description

1868 Shield Nickel, MS67
Unsurpassed Quality

1868 5C MS67 PCGS. Fletcher IIa Reverse. The star points between AM in AMERICA. The quality of this Superb Gem -- one of 28.8 million Shield nickels struck in 1868 -- is unsurpassed at both of the leading grading services. Brilliant, frosty surfaces exhibit a pale ice-blue cast. The olive leaves and shield lines are strong with softness limited to the lower reverse stars. Die cracks throughout and polish lines in the central reverse field are typical, but the lack of mentionable abrasions is exceptional. PCGS Population: 3 in 67, 0 finer (9/25).
