Description

1944 Lincoln Cent, AU53
on a Silver Dime Planchet

1944 1C Lincoln Cent -- Struck on a Silver Dime Planchet -- AU53 PCGS Secure. Ex: Simpson. Among the most desirable mint errors in numismatics is a 1944 cent struck on a zinc-plated steel planchet intended only for 1943-dated coinage. While most collectors cannot afford that rarity, a 1944 cent struck on a silver dime planchet is a collectible alternative, as well as a look-alike of its more famous off-metal error. The present partly lustrous cream-gray representative is unblemished and shows characteristics typical of the error category, such as distortion on IN GOD WE TRUST and softness of impression on the O in ONE.
