Description

1803 Half Dollar, AU50
O-101, Large 3, Small Reverse Stars

1803 50C Large 3, Small Reverse Stars, O-101, T-1, R.3, AU50 NGC. Gold toning accompanies subtle iridescence across the partially lustrous surfaces of this Large 3 Draped Bust half. The small size of the field stars above the eagle differentiate the O-101 variety from the similar O-103, which has larger field stars but shares the same obverse die. This example shows high-point wear plus minor abrasions expected for the grade. Softness at the upper-right shield corner is typical for the variety. Census (all 1803 varieties): 16 in 50, 55 finer (6/16).
