Republic Yuan Shih-kai silver Pattern "L. Giorgi - Plumed Hat" Dollar ND (1914) MS61 NGC, Tientsin mint, KM-Pn28, L&M-859, Kann-642a, WS-0095, Wenchao-856 (rarity 3 stars). Pattern for the Founding of the Republic commemorative. By Luigi Giorgi, with artist's signature above right shoulder. A trademark rarity of the early Republic's portrait Dollar series, here distinguished as such by the appearance of Luigi Giorgi's signature, struck during his tenure as Chief Engraver at the Tientsin mint, and viewed among his finest designs. While examples of the standard production issue and subsequent restrike are found with great regularity, these proposed issues are few and far in-between, and always lauded by collectors. Boasting metallic appearances throughout with a wave of die polish to both faces, the piece immediately flashes in-hand, revealing argent waves of brilliance with the flick of the wrist. An exciting rendition and sure to generate substantial collector response.
