1856-S G$1 Type Two AU58 NGC....
Description
1856-S Gold Dollar, AU58
Final Type Two Issue
1856-S G$1 Type Two AU58 NGC. The 1856-S is the only Type
Two San Francisco Mint gold dollar, and the final Type Two issue
from any U.S. mint. With a small mintage of 24,600 pieces, this
example was struck with a low date reverse die, resulting in
slightly weak definition on the date and denomination (as struck).
Featuring vibrant orange-gold surfaces and surviving mint luster,
this bright example is only lightly abraded and yields splendid
overall eye appeal. Census: 76 in 58 (1 in 58+), 33 finer
(8/25).Ex: FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2014), lot 6375.(Registry values: N1793)
