Rare in Mint State

1876 $2 1/2 MS61 PCGS. The 1876 Liberty quarter eagle is scarce in all grades, coming from a mintage of only 4,176 pieces. As might be expected, Uncirculated coins are rare. This impressive MS61 piece displays attractive yellow and rose-gold luster with only light surface chatter to limit the grade. The usual strike weakness occurs on the central high points. Population: 11 in 61, 9 finer (8/24).(Registry values: P2)
