Description
Crescent and Star Company gold Imitative Medallic 4 Ducat 1913-Dated MS62 NGC, 39mm. 13.60gm. A highly unusual privately issued medallic type, about which we have been able to unearth very little. Clearly taking its inspiration from the 4 Ducat-pieces of Franz Joseph I (most commonly encountered as the 1915 Restrikes), it is quite possible that the Crescent and Star Company represents a jeweler's shop; jeweler's imitations of contemporary coinage being well-known from throughout the Ottoman period. For the sake of accuracy, we note some minor lamination flaws on the reverse. XRF tested by NGC as gold.Metal: Gold
