Description

1884 Ten Dollar, MS63
Low Mintage, Conditionally Scarce

1884 $10 MS63 PCGS. The mintage of Liberty eagles at Philadelphia exceeded one million pieces annually between 1880 and 1882, but the 1884 business production was limited to just 76,800 pieces. The low mintage was likely due to the Panic of 1884. Although 1884 tens in AU grades can be purchased for a modest premium above bullion, the issue becomes rare at the MS63 level. A lustrous and well struck caramel-gold example with moderate facial marks. Housed in a Generation 3.1 green label holder. Population: 30 in 63 (1 in 63+), 6 finer (8/25).(Registry values: N2998)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 266A, PCGS# 8703, Greysheet# 9405)

Weight: 16.72 grams

Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
