1881 $3 MS63 PCGS....
Description
1881 Three Dollar Gold, MS63
Only 500 Pieces Struck
1881 $3 MS63 PCGS. The impossibly low mintage of 500 pieces
ensures that virtually all Mint State examples of the 1881 three
dollar gold piece will exhibit prooflike surfaces, as here on this
attractive Select representative. The coloration is rich
greenish-gold, complementing a sharp strike. A few small abrasions
on each side explain the grade. Overall eye appeal is outstanding.
Bowers estimates in his reference on the odd denomination that from
20 to 30 Mint State examples survive today. This coin will be a
welcome addition to the finest collection or Registry Set.
