Description

1857-S 50C Medium S, WB-102, Die Pair 4, R.4, XF45 PCGS. Scarce in all grades, just 158,000 pieces were struck and most coins circulated extensively on the West Coast. This bronze-gold example shows extensive blue overtones on the obverse with silver-gray and ocean-blue shades on the reverse. Few marks are seen on this well-struck, Choice XF example. Population (all varieties): 18 in 45, 23 finer (6/16).
