Description

1884 50C Repunched Date, WB-102, MS61 PCGS. This brilliant, semiprooflike Mint State piece is boldly struck with good luster and excellent eye appeal. A mere mintage of 4,400 business strikes all display a recut 4 at the base, a simple way to distinguish the circulation strikes from proofs since many prooflike coins exist. Abrasions are limited to an unobtrusive curled mark near the upper arrowhead and a few faint field lines. Encased in a first-generation holder.
Ex: Houston Signature (Heritage, 11/2007), lot 60663; Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 9/2011), lot 4035.
