Description

1878 50C PR64 PCGS. A generous mintage of 800 pieces makes the 1878 an available date in proof format. This near-Gem example is deeply mirrored on both sides and originally toned in a progression of blue, russet-red, and peach-gold shades on the obverse, while the reverse is more subtly toned in pale-gold and reddish-tan hues. A few cloudy areas on the obverse confirm the natural patina of this sharp and attractive proof. Population: 50 in 64, 31 finer (5/16).
