1849-D Gold Dollar, MS62
Choice Original Patina

1849-D G$1 MS62 PCGS. Variety 1-B. The 1849-D is usually encountered in XF and the lower AU grades, but is rarely seen any finer than MS62. Only 21,588 pieces were produced, of which some 225-250 examples are believed to survive today in all grades. This is a fully struck coin that has bright, original surfaces that show subtle orange and lilac patina on each side. A number of small field marks account for the grade. Population: 31 in 62 (2 in 62+), 23 finer (9/23).
