1879-S $1 MS68 NGC. The 1879-S Morgan dollar claims a large
mintage of 9.1 million pieces, making it an available issue in high
grade and a popular choice with type collectors. This magnificent
MS68 example displays sharply detailed design elements and
impeccably preserved surfaces, with vibrant mint luster and
highlights of violet and greenish-gray toning. NGC has graded 1
example in 68+, and 10 specimens in 68 with the Star designation,
but no coins have been certified in higher grades (7/19).(Registry values: P1, N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 253X, PCGS# 7092, Greysheet# 7456)
