Description

1907-D Half Dollar, Sharp MS66
Glimmering Satin Luster, Ex: Gardner

1907-D 50C MS66 PCGS. More than 3.8 million half dollars were struck in Colorado during the Denver Mint's second year of operation. Hundreds of Mint State pieces have reached the certification services, yet the population dwindles rapidly at this lofty grade level. Golden-lilac patina prevails over each side of this Premium Gem example, complemented by iridescent powder-blue and peach-orange accents. Glimmering satin luster emanates from underneath the toning, illuminating strongly detailed devices. Notably, the shield lines are fully delineated, and the fletchings are nearly complete. Minute ticks on Liberty's cap prohibit an even higher grade. Population: 13 in 66 (2 in 66+), 3 finer (5/16).
Ex: Central States Signature (Heritage, 5/2005), lot 7268; purchased from David Hall (5/2006); Eugene H. Gardner Collection, Part IV (Heritage, 10/2015), lot 98757.(Registry values: N2998)
