N. 12-X, Pointed Rays, STATES UNITED

1787 Fugio Cent, STATES UNITED, 4 Cinquefoils, Pointed Rays, N. 12-X, W-6820, R.3, MS61 Brown NGC. The telltale vertical die crack at 6 o'clock on the reverse is an identifier for Newman's "X" reverse, used to strike a majority of the Fugio cents in the Bank of New York holdings. This is a satiny ebony-brown Mint State example. No marks are evident, though a number of tiny darkly toned flan striations cross the reverse. Struck slightly off center toward 10 o'clock. Listed on page 52 of the 2026 Guide Book.

Coin Index Numbers: (Variety PCGS# 878100, Base PCGS# 883, Greysheet# 331630)
