Description

Gorgeous 1838 Large Stars Dime, MS67

1838 10C Large Stars MS67 NGC. Fortin-107. The obverse die has stars 5, 12, and 13 boldly repunched on this Large Stars variety. The variety is scarce, and is usually found in circulated grades.
It is definitely the sign of an important sale when we can offer two Superb Gem representatives of this second-year Seated dime from the Philadelphia Mint. This is a wholly original example with rich electric-blue peripheral toning around golden-gray color in the center of the obverse and crimson-gold patina in the center of the reverse. Shimmering satin luster is seen at all angles, the devices are fully brought up in all areas. There are no bothersome abrasions or readily evident pedigree markers. Census: 8 in 67, 2 finer (7/10).
