1874 Half Eagle, MS60
Low Mintage, Rare in Mint State
1874 $5 MS60 PCGS. The 1874 is a much better issue. The
commercial mintage was a scant 3,488 pieces, along with 20 proofs.
Most survivors are in lightly circulated grades. The present
pumpkin-gold example has a good strike and shows fewer abrasions
than anticipated for the MS60 level. Luster fills the design
elements. Population: 5 in 60, 6 finer (10/22).(Registry values: P3)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25WN, PCGS# 8333, Greysheet# 8921)
