1795 O-121a Half Dollar, VF Details
Y Over Star, Late Die State

1795 50C 2 Leaves, Y Over Star, O-121a, T-2, R.6 -- Repaired -- PCGS Genuine. VF Details.
Tompkins Die State 3/1. Microporosity from a past cleaning and a narrow area of repair in the right obverse field account for the net PCGS grade. Slate-gray color at the centers gives way to charcoal-gray toning at the margins of this late die state O-121a. The Y of LIBERTY is punched over an errant star. While earlier die states are scarce in their own right, the late stage with a strong radial die crack that runs between 9 and 5 to Liberty's ear is rare (R.6). This near-terminal die state is always in demand among Overton variety collectors.
