Description
1807 BD-1 Quarter Eagle, VF35
Collector-Grade Type Coin
1807 $2 1/2 BD-1, R.3, VF35 NGC. Bass-Dannreuther Die State
a/b. No die crack is discernible at the ERTY in LIBERTY, although
the wear on this coin may have effaced obvious evidence of it.
Early quarter eagles in the VF grade range always excite type
collectors who normally find early gold pieces to be out of reach.
The 1807 represents the last date of the Draped Bust type; Only one
die variety is known. This example is well defined for the grade,
with lightly abraded surfaces and pleasing orange-gold color. From The Western Heritage Collection.
