1836 Reeded Edge Half Dollar, VF30
GR-1, Historic Steam Press Issue
1836 50C Reeded Edge, GR-1, R.2, VF30 PCGS. Although
millions of lettered edge half dollars were coined in 1836, the
first reeded edge half issue had a very low mintage, traditionally
regarded as 1,200 pieces. This midgrade representative displays
moderate wear on the curls and wings. The slate-gray surfaces are
generally smooth, though we note a cluster of field marks near
Liberty's neck curls. Housed in an old green label holder.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 2U28, Variety PCGS# 531046, Base PCGS# 6175)
