Description

1802/1 $1 Wide Date, B-9, BB-235, R.5, VF30 ANACS. Bowers Die State I. The Bowers' reference notes that the BB-235 is the scarcest overdate of the year and the most challenging of all the 1802 varieties. The list of Notable Specimens ranks from AU58 to VF25. The date is wide but evenly spaced and the overdate is crystal clear. This example is toned a pleasing olive-gray with gold undertones. A number of small marks and digs are noted on the obverse, yet the devices are sharply defined for the grade on both sides. Housed in an early generation ANACS holder.
