Description

1924-S Peace Dollar, MS65
Early Low-Mintage Issue

1924-S $1 MS65 PCGS. Ex: Ward T. Miller Jr. The 1924-S was the first low-mintage branch issue of the Peace dollar series. The mintage was 1,728,000 pieces, about one-thirtieth the production of the 1922. The 1924-S is a better date in Mint State, where it is usually found in MS62 to MS64 grades. Full Gems are scarce and desirable. This lustrous high-grade example displays light honey-gold toning. Both fields have an orange-peel texture due to long-in-use dies. Marks are limited to one small tick each on the cheek and nosetip.
