Description

1881-CC Morgan, MS67+
Superb Quality, CAC Approval

1881-CC $1 MS67+ PCGS. CAC. Ex: JCS Collection. The cache of more than 147,000 1881-CC dollars that came out of the GSA sales in the 1970s has not diminished collectors' interest in this issue, but has rather strengthened it, for the date is now collectible in Superb Gem condition. However, among these high-grade coins are a group of elite Plus-graded pieces -- 19 at PCGS -- that stand apart from their peers. One of those coins is offered here, and it is CAC endorsed. With only five MS68 coins finer at PCGS (7/19), this piece is a ready candidate for a Registry Set, just as it comes from a magnificent Registry Set to this auction. Luster spans both sides in frosty brilliance, revealing flawless fields and near-flawless devices. A sharp strike leaves nothing to be desired. Among 1881-CC dollars, this is one of the most beautiful "white" examples that we have seen. CAC: 65 in 67, 1 finer (7/19).
