Description

1882-O/S Silver Dollar, MS64+
VAM-4 Recessed, CAC Approved

1882-O/S $1 Recessed, VAM-4, MS64+ PCGS. CAC. Ex: JCS Collection. A Top 100 Variety. The late die state, with the diagonal of the S strong in the lower part of the primary O mintmark. VAM-4 is the more often seen of the two Strong O/S varieties, although pieces attributed in near-Gem condition at PCGS are scarce. This Plus-graded coin is among the finest identified as VAM-4 at that service. The faintest trace of champagne toning warms each side, complementing softly frosted cartwheel luster. Central strike softness is above average. Population (VAM-4): 56 in 64 (2 in 64+), 0 finer. CAC: 47 in 64, 0 finer (7/19).
