1864 F-102a Dime, MS65
Low-Mintage Civil War Issue

1864 10C F-102a, R.5, MS65 PCGS. Due to fractional currency and Gresham's Law, dimes did not circulate except in the West during 1864. Two pairs of dies were used to strike 470 proofs, then the same two die pairs produced the business mintage of 11,000 pieces. A fully struck and lustrous Gem with faint wheat-gold toning. The surfaces are clashed but virtually devoid of contact. Population: 15 in 65 (2 in 65+), 7 finer (11/16).
