Description
1901-S Quarter, Fine 12
Attractive Two-Toned Patina
1901-S 25C Fine 12 PCGS. The 1901-S is the most difficult of
the three major Barber quarter keys to acquire in all grades.
Typically, examples will grade no higher than VG, or will have some
sort of cleaning or other damage. Mid-level circulated pieces that
are gradable produce a steep challenge for collectors to locate.
The present representative shows excellent olive and cream-gray
color with the relief elements somewhat lighter than the fields.
LIBERTY is largely clear, denoting the grade. Several hair-thin
scratches on the obverse are virtually unnoticed by the naked eye.
Overall, this is a pleasing example of a challenging San Francisco
key.(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 23YR, PCGS# 5630, Greysheet# 5432)
